Patrick Ferguson Biography
Patrick Ferguson (1744–1780) was a British Army officer from Edinburgh, Scotland who fought in the American Revolutionary War. He was the inventor of the Fergeson Rifle, a breech loading, cartridge based weapon. In 1780, Sir Henry Clinton appointed Major Ferguson as Inspector of Militia in South Carolina. He was in command when he was killed at the Battle of King's Mountain on October 7, 1780.
