Daniel Quillen Biography
Daniel Quillen (born June 27, 1940) is an American mathematician and winner of the Fields Medal. He is best known for his work on the definition of the higher groups in algebraic K-theory, by means of homotopy theory and in particular the plus construction, applied to the classifying spaces of general linear groups. He has worked also in the formal theory of differential equations, and homotopical algebra.
